ABOUT ME

Hello,

My name is Laurie Gratz and I am West Central's Middle School and High School Choral director. I am teaching 6th, 7th and 8th grade vocal music for the middle school and Mixed choir, Concert Choir and Music Appreciation for the High School. I also have an extra-curricular and currently non-competitive swing choir.

A little about me:

I am a graduate from North Dakota State University in 2008 with a Vocal Music Education degree. I have a passion for music and opportunity led me to apply for this position last year. I have 6 years of experience teaching elementary music in lots of forms, but now am excited to utilize what my college schooling was geared toward: Middle school and High School choirs.

I believe in teaching to the National Music Standards set by the National Association for Music Educators, and also believe in teaching students to become a well-rounded musician. My passion isn't just to teach music, but to teach students to use and learn music as a life-long skill. At the very least, for them to appreciate music in its many forms.

I am excited to get to know the students, parents, staff and community here at West Central. I am looking forward to a great year!
